ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- Through this prestigious biennial prize, essenscia intends to put a leading innovation project in the spotlight.

The organisation also wishes to encourage Belgian companies to innovate even more and to protect their intellectual assets. The winner will be awarded a prize of 30.000 euro and will benefit from media coverage.

The Award ceremony will take place in the presence of HRH Prince Philippe on Thursday 25th October 2012 at 10.00 a.m. in the Paleis der Academiën/Palais des Académies, rue Ducale/Hertogstraat 1 in Brussels.

Participating companies will receive a personal invitation to attend the award.

In Belgium, the chemistry and life sciences industries play a leading role in the field of research and development. In 2011, the spending of the sector in R&D hit a record high of 2.7 billion euro.

This represents nearly half of all private-sector R&D in Belgium. In recent years, several initiatives were launched to support sustainable innovation in chemicals and life sciences in order to anchor the future of this industrial sector in our country.

Last year, a patent cell was created by the organisation in partnership with the Federal Public Service Economy to boost the protection of intellectual assets in the sector.
