ENGINEERINGNET.EU – LBC, headquartered in Belgium, is currently the only global independent storage provider offering bitumen storage capacity in France. The company has 14 storage terminals located at ports in Europe, USA and China.

Shell and LBC Tank Terminals have now signed an agreement for the construction of two new bitumen storage facilities to be located at the LBC terminals in Nantes and Bayonne, both in France.

After completion of the two new units, LBC will have 5 bitumen facilities in France. The facilities are expected to be operational as from February 2013.

Shell intends 'to maintain its leadership in bitumen distribution in France and to offer long term security of supply to its customers'.

BACKGROUNDER
LBC’s worldwide network of storage terminals offers a total of 2.8 million m³ of storage capacity and a wide range of value added services. The storage terminals are suitable for handling a wide range of liquid products such as chemicals, specialty mineral and vegetable oils, feedstocks and finished petroleum products. The company has its headquarters in Mechelen, near Antwerp.
