ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- Gas from the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin, approximately 200 kilometers offshore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary offshore processing to remove water and extract condensate.

The gas will then be transported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 890-kilometer subsea pipeline. The project is expected to produce 8.4 million tons of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG per year.

The turboexpanders will be used in gas treatment, while the three-stage air compressors will produce instrument air for use at the onshore plant, states Atlas Copco.

“Our substantial LNG knowledge and references, combined with our ability to meet the precise and rigorous specifications of this project, helped us win this order,” said Stephan Kuhn, Business Area President Compressor Technique.

The machines are scheduled for delivery in Q3, 2013.
