ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- The Belgian Connect Group recently completed the IRIS certification process for its Czech facility.

IRIS, short for ‘International Railway Industry Standard’, complies with the specific requirements of the ISO 9001 international quality standard for the rail industry.

The certificate is intented to make relationships between suppliers and manufacturers more transparent by stating uniform rules to be observed by all suppliers.

For Connect, the certification tops several investments strengthening the performance of the company.

Among others, the group recently invested in a state of the art coating line to prevent manual touch-up. Furthermore, specific machinery was implemented to optimize component preparation.

The investment program will be continued with automated visual inspections and ongoing training activities, states the company.

Luc Switten, CEO of the group: “I strongly believe that the internationally accepted certification of IRIS will increase our credit of a respected and reliable supplier for the railway market and will contribute to a stronger growth in this market.”
