ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- E.ON is awarding its Research Awards for the fourth time. This year’s winners are three international research teams from Italy, Spain, Great Britain and Germany who submitted project suggestions on the subject of “Smart Home”. E.ON is supporting these projects with around €1 million in total.

The first project team made up of IMDEA Energia from Spain and City University London from the UK, is occupied with visualisation aspects of Smart Home technologies.

The second team of researchers from the University of Nottingham, UK are evaluating how customers cope with using the new technology on a day-to-day basis.

The third project is a comparative study by the University of Westminster, London, and Cardiff University (all in the UK), the Italian National Agency for New Technologies and the German Ecologic Institute. The team will investigate to what extent the requirements of customers in Great Britain, Germany and Italy differ from each other in terms of new technology.

The E.ON research prize is advertized throughout the world and supports excellent projects that develop the technology of tomorrow for the energy sector.

Smart Home is the fourth topic of the E.ON Research Initiative, within which the company has provided €19 million for research purposes over the last six years.

The focus of research has changed several times within this time frame. The Research Initiative is just one component of the technology and innovation activities that E.ON is conducting.
