Belgian Tractebel Engineering signs engineering contract with CIPREL

Tractebel Engineering and CIPREL recently signed a project management contract to develop a 333MW combined cycle production project at Vridi Canal, in the industrial port zone of Abidjan.

ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- CIPREL has commissioned the Belgian Tractebel Engineering to carry out feasibility studies, produce technical specifications, conduct negotiations, award the contract and oversee the construction and commissioning of a gas turbine (111 MW), two heat recovery steam generators linked to the new gas turbine and to another identical turbine installed on the site in 2009, and a steam turbine (111MW).

Ultimately, CIPREL will have an additional capacity of 222MW, of which 111MW entailing no additional consumption of natural gas.

Upon completion of the €270 million project, CIPREL's generating facilities will have a total capacity of 543 MW by 2014.

BACKGROUNDER
