ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- Robotdalen, a Swedish initiative with the mission to enable commercial success of new ideas and research within robotics and automation, has selected the winning project for this year among 24 contributions from 12 countries.

The award went to Bioservo, a Swedish company founded by researchers from the Karolinska Institute and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

The Bioserve researchers combine their experiences about human needs with modern robot technology knowledge, to conceive innovative products that strengthen the body. The jury considered the robotized glove as ‘an excellent example of a user-friendly, adaptive robotic assistance’.

The 2nd prize went to Mohammad Reza Ghahremani (Iran) for REWAN, an inspection and installation robot with innovative pneumatic and fiber optic solutions, making it non-electric, and hence very suitable for work in hazardous pipes and channels in for example the petroleum industry.

Winner of the 3rd prize was The italian qbrobotics for its ‘Natural Motion’ actuators that, through their higher flexibility than existing, rigid actuators, can conceive new possibilities for the next generation of robots.
