ENGINEERINGNET.EU – Following a meeting with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security to discuss their corruption investigation into GSK, Abbas Hussain, president of emerging markets stated: “Certain senior executives of GSK China who know our systems well, appear to have acted outside of our processes and controls which breaches Chinese law. We have zero tolerance for any behaviour of this nature.”

GSK faces allegations of its executives bribing doctors and officials to boost sales and medicine prices, as well as thirth party travel agencies in China. It is the first time the drug maker admits that bribery 'may' have taken place.

“These allegations are shameful and we regret this has occurred. I want to make it very clear that we share the desire of the Chinese authorities to root out corruption wherever it exists”, Hussain said.

“We fully support the efforts of the Chinese authorities in their reforms of the medical sector.”

A few days earlier GSK already decided to review all third party agency relationships and put an immediate stop on the use of travel agencies that have been identified so far in this investigation.
