ENGINEERINGNET.EU -- The 26 hectares park is a joint development of Wuhan Optics Valley (a municipal development company) and a private company. To obtain the contract, Grontmij formed a consortium with the local General Institute of Architectural and Research, a Chinese top design institute.

The park, Bio-lake of Wuhan Optics Valley, will contain approximately 372,000m² of gross floor area including an underground parking, a R&D area, several testing and manufacturing workshops, office space, an exhibition and service area and a residential area.

The challenge for the consortium in obtaining the contract, was that the park is being designed and developed before the users and their specific requirements are known.

Li Bin, Grontmij country managing director in China: 'Grontmij will take this chance to get involved in the relative high-end design and consulting market of China, offering international and sustainable services to the Chinese customers'.

The park will be realised by the end of 2013.
